Mortal Instruments!

This series is a bit farther down on my book log than some others but I figured I should skip ahead since the movie is in theaters. The Mortal Instruments series is about Shadow Hunters fighting against, I probably shouldn't say in case you want to read the books are see the movie. I really liked the idea of the Shadow Hunters, but I felt it could have been written better than it was and could do without a few of the twists that were put in there. I've also seen the movie and it was quite a bit different from the book in some parts (but it almost always is). The series consists of books. The City of Bones, Ashes, Glass, Lost Souls, and Fallen Angels. And in that order too. There is also a series that is supposedly the prequel to the series. I have not read the Infernal Devices series, but if you liked the Mortal Instruments series, you might like these. Here  is the trailer of the City of Bones.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer rocks!

So I haven't been updating my book log as much as I should have, so I'm a few books behind (by a few I mean 50!). To make up for that I'm going to be reviewing books with the same protagonist, antagonist, topic, or the same series together. If you're new and haven't read any of my other post before then you don't know that I really like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and read a  bunch of books people write about her. One of the ones I've read is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Suicide King. It's a pic-your-path book where you get to choose what gets to happen. I really like these books because I get to see how well I would do in a situation like this and I can read these over and over again and I can get a different ending every time. So it's a little hard explaining what a book is about when there are so many different endings and things that can happen but I can sum it up the best I can. Here it is: There's something that's causing people to commit suicide. So simple enough, but that's the best I can tell you, so read it yourself to find out more. The other book is the another Buffy book. There are 3 stories in one book which makes it look big. They're by three different authors, but I really like them. So there's my review on all of the Buffy books I've read.

Help wanted!!

So I have posted about all the books I've read (well, most of them) and told you what I think about them. Now it can be your turn to help. I want to find a good book to read. I've tried picking out books that I think I'll like, but I end up not liking them. If you have a favorite book that you think I'll like, comment. I'm open to all comments and suggestions and am willing to read anything but romance. Thanks in advance, I can't wait to see what recommendations I get!

Second Chance!!!

Second Chance, like the rest of Heather's Brewer stuff, is really awesome! If you've read Vladimir Tod, you'll know who Joss is. He's a vampire slayer who is sent to kill Vlad. The Slayer Chronicles are what happened to Joss to make him become a vampire hunter. This is the second book in the series and I find them really intriguing. I don't want to spoil any secrets besides Joss being a vampire slayer, I'll let you do that yourself. I highly recommend these books to anyone, especially Vladimir Tod fans. I have one question that I'm dying to ask Heather Brewer though, is Joss McMillan named after Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the vampire slayer?

Eve and Adam!

I really like Michael Grant's books so I figured I'd try out this one. I didn't think I'd like it, but it's not bad. The idea is really interesting, the only downer was the romance in it. The idea of the story is that Eve gets hurt and is able to heal really fast, faster than normal. Her mom allows Eve to make a human, but she thinks she's just designing one. Then Eve and her friend Solo find some secrets about her mom's work, and they plan to reveal them. Until they find out that Adam (the guy Eve created) was real. If you like books like this you'll like Eve and Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate.

Freak the Mighty!

I read this book for the school book club and it really wasn't one of my favorites. It's about a small kid that looks 4 who is really 14 and a really tall kid. They become unlikely friends and run away from bullies together. The tall kid's dad is a criminal and haunts the kid. The book is a drama and I don't really like dramas. So if this book sounds interesting to you, check it out and find out more details.

Mission Accomplished!!

Last year I decided that I was going to keep track of all the pages I read just to see how much of a book worm I am. Yesterday was my last day to add any books to my book log and I reached my goal. My original goal was 25,000 pages, but I read that many in April so I still had two months left. I decided to go for 30,000 because it was the end of school and I would be getting some time to read. In one year I have been able to read 30,027 pages and 83 books with an average of 362 pages each. I am definitely proud that I reached my goal, but now I have 43 (or so) books to review on my blog that I have neglected to blog about because I was so busy reading a different book by then. I will hopefully be blogging about them a lot this month. I am also starting over on keeping track of the books to read to see if I can beat my goal. I don't think I'll be able to read as much because of all the classes I'm taking this summer, next summer, and during the school year. My new goal is only 20,000 pages.

Croak!

What would you do if you were a Grim Reaper? Join Lex in an adventure to learn how to become a Grim Reaper while facing troubles. Gina Damico's view of the Grim Reaper actually being a bunch of people is fascinating and I enjoy reading it (besides the romance). The first book was pretty good and I also enjoyed the second. I'm waiting for the third to come out because they author left it at a bad spot to end a book.

The Homelanders series!

A teenager wakes up and can't remember anything but apparently murdered someone. That sounds interesting, doesn't it? That's what the Homelanders series is about. I've finished the first two books in the series before I got bored of them. They're good books, there is a good idea, and they have some cool action scenes in them. Though, I started reading the third one and it didn't intrigue me as much as the other ones.  Even though I lost interest in them, you may not. If these books sound interesting to you check out The Last Thing I Remember and The Long Way Home by Andrew Klavan.

Daniel X!

I was in the library when this book caught my eye, it was called The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. Of course I wanted to read it, I love action books and this seemed like it would have a lot of action in it. When I saw that James Patterson wrote it, I was even happier. James Patterson is a great author in my opinion. So I read the book and I was not disappointed. I have read the first, second, and third books in the series, and I hope to finish it. These books are about an alien that slays other aliens that are evil, I was really pleased with these books and I believe you will be, too.

Light!

So I just finished Light by Michael Grant 5 minutes ago. (Yes, I know it's 1 in the morning, don't judge me!) It took me less than 8 hours to finish it. I've blogged about the previous books in the past, and the final one came out in the U.S on April 8th, even though I just got it today, (well, I guess yesterday.) The ending of the book was not the way I expected it to end and I'm sad to see the series come to an end. These books intrigued me when I first picked up the first one, Gone, and they I still love them. The ending of the book I loved and hated at the same time,  but overall it was a great book. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first one in the series. And don't skip to the end, I know the whole series is over 3,000 pages, but it is worth it. And on the plus side, if you haven't started the books yet, you don't have to wait for any of them to come out like I did. So read the Gone series by Michael Grant, the ending will leave you shocked because of all the twists in it.

Night Terrors!

So I still like Buffy the Vampire books, and this one is a choose your own path books. There are more than one way the book can end, and you don't read the book in order. I've read this many times, trying to get a different ending each time. Night Terrors by Alice Henderson is a pretty good book.

The Rise of Elgen!

So first of all, I want to apologize to everyone for not posting in a few months, and I'll make it up by posting some today. The Rise of Elgen is the second book in the Michael Vey series  by Richard Paul Evans. They're about kids who have powers that have to do with electricity, and at the end of the first book they left it at a cliff-hanger. The first book was better than the second, but it was still a good book. I would say more, but I don't want to give anything away.
